The staff at Melin's were able to cut keys for my 1968 Opel GT, a rather obscure vehicle with a unique key design. Several other locksmiths were unable to make copies, but Melin's was able to complete the job in less than 10 minutes and at a cost of $1 per side. All keys work perfectly!

Went here to find a key for my mortise locks took the whole lock in and told me the couldnt find a key for it because a corner was broken off, making it impossible to use because the key didnt have a spot to stop.anyone especially a locksmith that's been around for 40 years should know most mortiselicks are double sided in my case and it doesnt need a stop. Go elsewhere if you looking to fix or get help with older hardware

I placed an order for a motorcycle key. I was told it would be done that same day. Once done, I would get a call. I had place this order in the morning. It was almost close time. I called and they answered and said very rudely the lock smith isnt here! they hang up with out telling me anything else. So I am still waiting on this key. Terrible service. I rather be told, go somewhere else for your key.

This place tries to pass itself off as a nice family business but they are just a bunch of shysters. The service is slow and the staff can have an attitude. They charge about twice what other places charge for their services and will try to make a simple situation sound overly complicated in an effort to get more money. If you need keys cut go to the hardware store. If they are computer chip keys contact your car dealer and they will take much better care of you for a fraction of the cost

Melins has been in business for almost 40 years. There isn't a lock that he cannot fix. Reasonable prices and great service is the hallmark. Wide variety of locks, safes and accessories are available in the store. They also offer the service to pay electric, gas and phone bills. Located on the north west corner of Locust srreet and 4th street(illinois the. 23). Parking is available.

I stopped here to get a key made and service was very slow. Both employees seemed very new and as though they did not know what they were doing. Having a seasoned professional work with new employees would probably be a good idea for them to consider.

Mr. Melin re-pinned an '04 civic lock to the original key, for a fraction of the price Honda could have done it. (In fact, Bemis Honda wouldn't touch it) I'll choose Melin's Lock & Key every time!

I took a car ignition lock in to get rekeyed at 930am. I was told it would get done that same day. When I called to see if was done a few hours later Mary told me the locksmith wasn't in yet and didn't know if he would get to it. I then called again at 430.a different lady said he was in but didnt have time. Ugh! Have to take my business somewhere else to fix it, cause I cant drive my car without it.
