If I could give zero stars, I would. Came in to pick up some charcoal they had on sale online. There was none left on the shelves so I asked an associate if they had any left in back. He found what I believe was his supervisor who said it was in back but that is basically not for sale. What?! I went back online - it was still available to order for in-store pickup - so I did and what do you know, my order was cancelled by the store and the items removed as an available product online. Wont have to worry about me returning - Ill happily drive twice as far to take my business to Fuseks True Value downtown.

Always a place i will continue to stop to get my hardware and other work supplies. Great helpful staff. I never have to search 4 help when looking for particular items. Always greeted when u enter. Great place for quick in and out stops. Id refer them to any other contractors in serch of supplies or tools while in the zionsville Area.

These guys are awesome. They helped me figure out a complicated combination of plumbing parts, and stayed after closing time to do it. BTW, it all worked the 1st time with no leaks.

Called about four patio chairs I found online at another store, but after talking to 'Tony' at Akard, I ended up buying a whole set, of six chairs and a matching patio table, for just an extra $67.00 - what a deal! And when we got to the store, they loaded it all into our truck and car! 'Tony' and the crew at Akard were great! Thank you for all the help...

I walked in at closing with two dead fridges in my garage. All I needed was a GFCI and you said 'I don't even know what that is but we can't help you.' I'll add 20 minutes to go to a big box store every time now.

Fabulous place. An old-fashioned feel that a neighborhood hardware store should have, but with all the modern needs. I've found things here that the 'big box' retailers don't carry - they really know how to pack it into a smaller space (so it's easier to find, too). The team here is really nice, too - one even followed me out to my car and put a new bolt on for me to make sure it was the right size.

Plant selection and quality poor. The plants we purchased died within two weeks even with recommended care. Home Depot has much better selection and customer service. An example of why not to shop local.

The staff is wonderful at this local True Value Hardware store. For many years this was the closest hardware store for miles. With many big box stores building nearby, this True Value has been forced to specialize what items they carry. Their hardware section is probably the most full fledged section of the store. I can always find the right bolt, nut, hook, hanger, or whatever other miscellaneous part I may be looking for.They are always growing and catering to the community of Zionsville.

Disappointing return interaction. I purchased an extension cord that ended up being too short for my needs. Did not have the label that came with it so they wouldn't accept my return even with the receipt. While I wish I had retained the label, their competition would have no problem handling my return with no questions. Sadly this will now influence my future buying decisions with this store.

Bought a chainsaw here, they try to upsell all the time on stihl equipment but if you ignore them its no problem. Stihl prices are the same across the board but this place is closest to home

I've gone into this store multiple times and I've always been impressed with the selection and the people, however: today I received the worst service I've had in any establishment in my life. I walked into the store with my friend with the intent of buying some woodworking gear, a hatchet, some gloves, a folding saw, and maybe some mousetraps for the shed. Some angry bald employee harassed, followed, and questioned us in a very unwelcoming manner, even asking us to leave after we told him we didn't need help and that we were just looking around the store for what we needed. I only got the gloves and a hatchet, but in my stress I just snagged some off the shelf that I'll have to go and return. In all, I really do love the store and the selection but I honestly could have done without the incredibly rude and unwelcoming service.

I've often wondered if everyone who works there takes a class called 'how to give great customer service, find every nut and bolt we sell, and tell customers how to do every do-it-yourself job there is,' because that's the kind of service you get at Akard's. Love that place!

A great store with a friendly small town feel. My son and I go there regularly on the weekends. He loves the popcorn, I love browsing. Rental and small engine sales on north end is great. Chain sharpening is cheap and good. It may not be the biggest store in NW Indy, but I've consistenly been impressed by their selection of goods and availability of hard to find items. - A great example - I wanted just a basic, wooden handled, wire brush for cleaning up masonry work. Found multiple brushes and various sizes, all for around $3. I had just been to Home Depot the day before where they only carried a fancy rubberized-grip handled $10 brush with a worthless cheap scraper. You know how many people greeted me at HD? None. I prefer self checkout at HD too! You know how many associates I talked to at Akard's? 4 or 5 easy. $0.99 32 oz fountain drink too!

This store is rude, the manager yells at customers, and has no business being the manager. Mismanaged store, no consideration for customers, frankly, the store should be closed because it is not professionally operated. Courtesy to customers should always come first and if not, they don't deserve business.
