Shop local, shop small. In a modern world, it's difficult to find trade shops that will try to repair the broken items before pushing you to buy the new. Sometimes cheaper and newer is a bigger sales pitch but the quality is sacrificed. At Grotts, they try to repair before replacing when possible and as quickly as they can while maintaining your security's integrity. Staff is friendly and helpful. They are quick and knowledgeable. Also a laid back atmosphere. They have an amazing variety of house keys. They have keys with oversized tops that would be great for small hands, or people with arthritis. Also a nice selection of safes. I came to get a key cut for my Carmy (they can also program car keys!!) and got to see so much more they offer. Will definitely be back for several items!!

I live in eastern KY but I have been to Grott Locksmith on two occasions. They are terrific here at making keys. They can even program a key fob and they do it for a fraction of the cost that a car dealership will charge you. Also, they don't take all day. We brought complex lock problems to them twice and each time we were out in a few minutes. Knowledgeable and friendly. I recommend them if you need a locksmilth

The people here are great...very helpful and friendly. I bought an upgraded transponder key with a built-in keyless entry remote online so I could lighten the load on my keychain and give me a little more pocket space. I went to several big box stores before giving them a shot. The big box places wouldn't cut the key for me. They both said I'd have to buy their keys which cost more than what I paid and didn't have a built-in remote. No thank you. I was able to get my car to accept the transponder and keyless remote using instructions online and Grott's helpful staff cut the key for me. They had to cut steel head blank to ensure they could do it because the keyless entry key wouldn't fit in their duplicator so I ended up with an extra key that will unlock but not start the car so that's a bonus too. The cost was so much less than the dealer that I ordered another key/remote combo and had them cut it too so now I have two and the factory keys and remotes are not even needed but stored safe and sound. It cost less to buy 2 and have them cut by Grott than to have the dealer take care of 1 by a long shot. I can't thank them enough. I highly recommend them.

We just had these guys out to help us fix some issues we were having with our locks. I would recommend this company to anyone, the office is very professional, easy to work with and will work around your schedule. The technician that showed up called ahead of time, and was even early for my appt. He was easy to work with and finished the job very easy. I will say one of the best companies to work with, if you have issues give them a call! Thanks for all the help

This place hands down is the most disgusting building I have ever been in. It does not look to have been cleaned in years. It is gross. The three times I had been there I was lied to about prices twice. One of the times I was cursed at because I was only willing to pay the agreed upon price. They are the only big operation for locks in Lexington so I guess they can treat their customers poorly and charge whatever. I am assuming most of the reviews on here are from friends and family members. Over the years most of the people I have talked to and know agree with my sentiment.

They duped my motorcycle key. It was awesome. I was expecting to pay around $30-$80 per key because it's a motorcycle and a specialty item. Nope. Had three made for an excellent price of under $5 a key. Good quality on all.
