Was caught in quite the predicament when my pregnant wife and I accidentally locked ourselves out of our house at the height of a summer afternoon last week.Was quoted over an hour wait from a couple other outfits then contacted Make a Key.... Once they were aware that my wife was pregnant they called back to let us know they'd be by in 10 minutes.Obviously, we caught someone at the right place at the right time- but the manager I spoke with, she did a tremendous job in rising to the occasion on an otherwise maligned afternoon.Thank you, thank you, thank you. The technician who entered my vehicle did not wear a mask or gloves. During a pandemic, gloves and mask would protect me from an unintentional viral contamination of my car. Conversely, the worker would be protected from my environment. I used full precautions after my car was keyed unsafely. I hope the technician decontaminated as well. COVID disease is expensive, the bills will pile up, business will loose employees and there is a human cost. I did not want to risk service refusal by asking the technician to work safely. I have had service refusal when I asked for mask and gloves. Regrettably those who refuse to work safely will end up sick and broke from medical bills. Do not use this company if you cannot risk unsafe work practice. This business does not care about its employee safety.

These guys are the best. I went here a year ago to copy a key for a security system. They informed me that the key blank I had would not fit but they gave it a shot anyway. End result was a non working key as I thought but they didn't charge me for their time. A few months ago I lost a key to my new bike and had to get a few blanks cut by code. The technician was very helpful and got it done quickly having me try them before charging a reasonable price.A+ service and staff!

This is a business that everyone has use caution using their services. They make you sign a paper agreeing that if they break your key is not their problem. Basically if they cannot do their job is the customer pays for not the business. The professional laughs when he breaks the customers key. I cannot believe that place still doing business. I wish there was a half star to give.

If we could give more than five stars we sure would! I accidentally slammed the trunk down with our keys laying in the track of the trunk. For as long as weve had the car, the door never opened with a key and we only had the one remote fob that was now stuck in the trunk lid.The gentleman on the phone told me that we could avoid the charge and call the police if we were within city limits. Wanting to get this mess straightened out quickly, I told him I would rather just pay the charge. He was here in ten minutes. He not only unlocked the car but fixed the door lock that never before opened with a key. We never had the lock fixed because the dealer told us they would have to take the door apart. Kevin was courteous, fast, and more knowledgeable than the dealer! We now know where we will go for all of our future lock and key needs. Thank you Make A Key Locksmith!

These guys are great!! They and always going above and beyond to get you the key that you need. I have been there on several occasions and they are always very quick, professional, and reasonably priced. If they don't have your vehicle's key in stock, they can get it in as little as 12 hours!! This is my go to place to get a replacement or duplicate key fob for my vehicle and I will not go anywhere else! They even give you snacks while you wait for them to make your key!

I purchased a used truck today and it only came with one key. Just so happens make a key locksmith was there to work on some cars. I asked if he could make me a few copies and he did. Then I asked if he could make a key to work with my other truck which 3 other key makers could not do. His 1st copy failed like the other guys did, so I was ready to give up again. He then takes a tool out and 'measures' the lock from the inside, next he takes a few numbers down, then punches it into a key computer. Bam! New hey fits perfect! Wow. Its nice to see someone who knows what they are doing.

I lost my only key to a 2006 Mazda 3. I called Make A Key and they had some one at my house in about an hour. The technician was professional and pleasant to deal with. He made and programmed 2 keys for me in about 30 minutes. I checked both keys against the door logs and ignition and they worked fine. He also mentioned that he had left the original keys programmed in the computer when he added the 2 new keys. That way if I ever found my lost key, I would still be able to use it.The only very minor 'negatives' about the experience were:1. They said I would get a call before the technician arrived but I did not. This may have been because the person I spoke to on the phone was not able to directly speak to the scheduler while I was on the phone and she was the person who said I would get a warning call.2. Both keys worked fine, but the cut edges were sharper and thus went into the lock rougher than my original key which I had used for 10 years. I am guessing the new keys will get smother as they wear from use.I would recommend using Make A Key to my friends.While calling around for quotes, I called 2 other places that also had good reviews and a good Better Business record like Make A Key does. One place sounded good, but was significantly more expensive than Make A Key for the second key. The other place never responded to my phone mail requesting a quote.

This locksmith was quite the experience. I spent between 2.5-3 hours total at this place trying to get my Subaru's key duplicated. My first visit here was for a quote, simple, straightforward, and my first time ever visiting a locksmith for a vehicle. They had to order my key, which I expected, and I was quoted $150 for the key, programming, etc (plus tax). I said okay, and waited for their call. They called, left a message saying my key was in, I went in a few days later to have it programmed. I called ahead to see about how long it would take for the service to be completed, I was told about thirty minutes or less. I spent ballpark 1.5-2 hours there with the new key, first programming attempt. The technician who attempted the programming had some trouble, which I expected (Subaru's are finicky with their computer systems), so he called in the guy who I assumed ran the shop, he spent another thirty minutes with the car before he gave up. As a bonus, about an hour into the ordeal, I was told they would have to charge $20 extra to access some database to program the key to my vehicle, after they had already started working on my car. Even after accessing this database, they failed to program the new key and somehow managed to kill the remote in my old key. This wouldn't have been such a big deal, except in order for me to manually lock and unlock my doors, the car disabled its anti-theft system on the drivers' side door to prevent the alarm from going off every time I used the key to open the door. Two hours of being in the shop, a dead remote, and no new key later, the guy running the shop tells me they need to call in someone who can do this service for me, we schedule a time for a few days later, and I come back in as planned. The new guy is able to reprogram my old key, and program the new key within 30 minutes, I pay the $170, and I'm on my way. I would have rated this experience two stars, except for the fact that we were able to reach the desired end result. I got my new key programmed, but the locksmith should have been more up front with me from the getgo, given me an accurate estimate, and called in the specialist BEFORE wasting two hours of my time and killing my car key. If you have a Subaru, I'd recommend you make sure they call in the specialist the first go-round before coming in, save yourself a headache.
