I really question what kind of expertise the people who are employed by this company have...I understand their terms of the costs in that they will send someone out in an emergency, but you'd expect that they send someone out who somewhat knows what they're doing and isn't on youtube on their phone most of the time watching videos of 'how to unlock...' (the same videos that I was watching before giving up and calling in a 'professional') or calling their supervisor almost every 5 minutes to ask what they should do...And eventually not be able to get anything done (and charge the fee to be out for the emergency - almost $200) and recommend that a higher technician come out the next day and charge you again for that...Disappointed in their abilities and business ethics/professionalism is a complete understatement...

My daughters lock was not installed properly. A fire trap couldn't unlock from the inside and when she called for service within months of installation they came out and charged another $300.00 and it still didn't work properly. Thank goodness for an amazing carpenter we hired who told us the lock was not installed properly and we hope fixed the issues. The clinker was the service call charge of which nothing was done but a minor adjustment within a week later it didn't work again.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone in an emergency situation. I called this place on a Saturday night help. I was told by the answering service that the locksmith would call me back soon. Never heard from one. At that point it wasn't an emergency, I just needed one before work the next morning. I called again Sunday morning, they said sorry about that! I'll let the guy know you are still waiting and to call you! Never got a call, so I went with a different service. Monday morning I get a call from them asking how my service went. Seriously?Edit- I understand stuff happens and emergency situations come up, but there was 10 hours between my calls. Dispatch could have at least made me aware there was a situation and I was not going to be helped.

These folks worked a miracle for me the other weekend. First of all, they were OPEN on a Saturday evening, AND they managed to cut a key from one that was 1) broken into two pieces; and 2) the metal was stressed and distorted at the point of the break.They were upfront about the options, pricing, and likelihood that the new key may not work. It was for a jobsite and the property owner was out of the country, so I decided to go for it. They were measuring and pulling out manuals for specs. They were even willing to explain what they were doing and what judgement calls they had to make. (I can't help it, I love learning stuff like that).Come Monday the workers had no problem with the lock!Thanks again, guys! (Tried to leave this on YELP, too, but for some reason it never posted).

The employees are very friendly & nice. Good selection of stock. Not had good luck having keys made here two of the four times I have been here. The 2 other visits were to return the poorly cut keys. Prices are higher than other locksmiths I use frequently.

What a great locksmith. Everyone was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. The technician came prepared and managed to fit a new digital keypad lock in an old door with oddball sized holes already cut in it.The prices are a little steep but you gotta pay if you want quality work.

Overly priced took over 3 hours need debit/credit card to book appointment and when I called and said I dont need the service any more they took the money out my bank account Also everyone I spoke to in Philadelphia about this company had a bad review for them being overly priced so idk how they getting good reviews but its 2019 anybody can pay to look good

I moved to South Philadelphia at the beginning of April. First order of business was to change the locks. I moved here from New Jersey where Medeco locks are standard fare. I called a '24 hour' locksmith and specifically told the woman who took my call, that I wanted Medeco locks installed. Local locksmith arrived and said, 'Medeco locks are special order, we don't stock them. The woman told you that... ' Well, no she didn't. Fine, so I'm good with at least rekeying the off the shelf locks that came from someplace like Home Depot, until I can do something better. It got more interesting when the service tech started repeatedly asking me, 'Why do you want Medeco locks anyway? What do you need them for? No one around here uses them.' Then we got into how expensive they are, 'Have you had them in the past?' Yes. 'They are really expensive, like $400 or more! Are you S U R E that you want them? We'd have to special order them... ' 'What do you need them for?' I told the tech that Medeco is standard fare in NY and NJ, and I have only seen one Medeco lock breached, and it was breached by the FDNY when there was a smoldering, almost active fire on the other side of a NYC apartment door. Hmm... The local locksmith contacted me 2 days later about the 'special order' Medeco locks and then it was so clear that they had absolutely no experience with them. Instead of recommending the usual type of Medeco locks, the new to me tech on the phone was wondering what type I wanted because there were so many to choose from. Well, I'm not a lock expert nor did I have a catalog in front of me, so that was the end of that.Then I found Houdini Lock & Safe. They actually knew all about Medeco locks, and cameras, and video, and gave me general tips about my particular house re: safety. We didn't get the Medeco locks, we got something better! Locks that can open with codes so that our upcoming tenants won't require a key that we then have to collect if they leave, or replace if it gets lost. New tenant, new code. Also, the doors lock themselves when you are leaving the house, with a touch of your hand. No more fumbling for keys on the way out or on the way in since a personalized code can let you in, just like your tenant. Of course, there are the actual keys as back up. The doorbell now has a camera so that I can see who is at my front door before I open it, since there is no sight line from inside my front door. I can give Amazon a one time, time-specific code so that I don't have to hope that my packages are still at my front door when I return from my 'non-flexible hours' job (no chance I could ever be available for a delivery during the day). Dog walker (soon to find someone) can also have a code. Also lets you track who has opened/closed your door and the time. The list of features goes on... So for anyone whining about the price of the services from this company, you are getting what you pay for. Expert advice, expert knowledge, choices for security that would have baffled my local locksmiths and on top of it all, the owner and his staff are all very, very, very nice people. Pravda!

The customer service was horrible!!!! They took over an hr to respond just to say that no one was in my area.. it's supposed to be an emergency service, it seems the emergency is getting more ppl on call..

The lady who answered the phone was very nice and sent multiple messages to the guy on call. HOWEVER. I sat outside my house for two and a half hours and he never contacted me. I called her three different times, and each time she sent him a new message with my phone number in it (he didn't answer the phone because he was on another call is what she told me). Eventually I told them to cancel it and went to a different locksmith to help me. Hopefully other days the on call guy does better but this was pretty ridiculous.

Great place to go for key duplicates especially old keys and new key solutions and their safe specialist is beyond amazing does every possible thing to save your safe or vault by surgically opening it so you can still use it . The staff can also duplicate some old automotive keys and if you bring your own key if it can be done they do those too without batting an eyelash and it's done right in front of you.

If I could give negative stars I would. Do not patronize this business. I went to get a duplicate key cut, and after refusing to pay a $2 surcharge for using my debit card (nevermind I asked the employee if I could use a debit card without a surcharge), the owner came out of his office, instructed me to go to the atm to get the cash and took my duplicate and original key and refused to return my original unless I payed. Needless to say they will never get my business again.

I wish I could remember the guy that 'helped' me. He basically said that they charge about $100 something to cut my blank auto key I bought online but if my blank key broke his machine they would charge me $300 for breaking the machine. He said that with the blank keys you buy online sometimes have steel in them and can break their machinery and 'recommended' that I purchase the keys that they sell. So I left and went to Accesslocktech in Warminster they charged me $45 plus tax to cut my blank auto key I purchased on amazon. They are SUPER NICE, the cute little old man even came outside and made sure the key worked. If you need auto keys check out Accesslocktech I think they also go by Mike's Lock shop they are located in Warminster but a lot cheaper.
