Cole's Bicycles Inc Reviews

This place took care of both of my kids in a matter of 10 minutes. First they replaced my daughters inner tube. Second they sized my son up for a bike The one that they suggested was only $68 because it was used. However it was a great value. With this bike he learned how to get off the training wheels in two days. I would highly recommend this place for any and all bike needs. They definitely know what they are talking about

In response to Cinda's response...I did ask about getting the bicycle tool and the gentleman I spoke with said he could not help me, I would have to get it on my own. Here is my full response, and I hope it is helpful.Allow me to break down my experience into specifics. Here are 5 reasons I would not do business at your shop because of my experience.A little background for review readers I brought my 2015 Specialized Crosstrail to Coles Bicycle shop for a tune up. *Please note that Specialized is a brand name and not a general reference to a unique or custom bicycle.* When I dropped off the bike I asked the gentleman at the desk if he could do a tuneup on my brand of bicycle and he said yes, but it would be a little over 2 weeks due to a busy work schedule. I agreed to wait because I prefer to patronize local businesses.5 reasons I would not do business here.1. Rude customer service. I experienced several micro-aggressions during my experience. By micro-agression I mean things said that were rude or insulting, but not insulting enough to warrant a response during the conversation. I experienced the first microaggression within 15 seconds of calling to check on my bike. I didnt want to drive 20 minutes each way only to find out that due to some snafu my bicycle wasnt ready. When the woman answered the phone, I gave her my name and asked if my bike was ready. She responded in a rude, sharp tone with, Did you receive a phone call? Please allow me to be sarcastic Oh yes, I did, so now Im calling you. Of course I didnt get a phone call!!! This here is a microaggression. What she was really saying was we didnt call you, so dont call us. I told that her I had not received a call, but would like her to check anyway. She then handed me off a man who informed me that he didnt have the proper tools to remove the wheel from my bicycle and that the had tried to call me two days ago (I had no missed calls), which leads me to the second reason not to do business at Coles.2. Lack of proper tools. When you take your car to shop for service, do you bring your own tools? Of course not! The gentleman explained to me that he didnt have the wheel key to unlock my wheels from the bicycle. Im not talking about a unique key to my personal lock. The wheel key is an unlocking device that fits any Specialized bicycle with my wheel types. Coles did not have this tool. Here is microaggression 2 the man said well you should have brought the tool with you. Ahh.I see its my fault. I am so sorry! Is there anyway I can make this right? Can I pay you double? Sorry for the sarcasm. He then asked if my bicycle was over 10 years old microagression #3 I have an old outdated bicycle that modern bicycle mechanics cannot work on. I explained that my bicycle was a 2015.3. Dishonesty. While speaking with the man, he made two dishonest statements. First he said that he had called and left message. My phone does not have voicemail. This is on purpose. Here is what likely happened someone from Coles tried to call me, could not leave a message, and never made the effort to call back. This call happened two days prior to my visit. The second dishonest moment I informed the man that I would take my bicycle to another bicycle shop. His response was funnyyet dishonest, Other bicycle shops are not accepting bicycles for service. Note that within 5 minutes after leaving I had same day drop off for service at another bicycle shop.4. Poor business practices. When the gentleman at Coles explained he didnt have the tool to remove the wheel from my bike, he offered to SAW OFF the wheel lock, replace it with something he had in stock, and charge me over $70.00. 5. No recompense for unsatisfied customers. Coles had my bicycle for about two weeks, never successfully made contact with me, and let me walk out completely unsatisfied.

Great local family owned shop. Highly recommend for all your cycling needs! Went in for a bell and to check out cycling shorts. Left with essentials that helped round out my cycling collection!

Cinda and Kevin along with all the Cole's service people went above and beyond to fit me with the right bike, twice. Having one hand, they customized a road bike and a trail bike that fit my needs and keep me riding safely. Not an eay task, all brakes and gears on one side of the bike while keeping the price reasonable. I recommend Cole's Bike Shop for anyone who needs a customized fit for any reason.

The Harrisburg Bicycle Club Helmet Drive is going on! Shoppers can save $10 / $15 off of HELMETS and safety items through the end of June. Don't miss this promotion! They have a nice selection of merchandise, can order you almost anything for you and they are very knowledgeable about bikes, fittings and accessories! It's one of my favorite local bike shops!

spoke to a lady here that was very informative and courteous. She was able to help me with everything I needed whether it was with their company or not. I would recommend them to any and everybody I know it is very hard to find good customer service sometimes and their service was just excellent. Thank you I'll be back if I ever need anything.

Apparently, a store for a certain class of cyclist only. My bicycle is my main form of transportation, and when my trusty old steed needed tires, I stopped at Cole's. My bike is an early 90's hybrid with friction shifters and a solid frame, just a regular, simple, and reliable bike. It has none of the new gizmos that don't work any better and just break sooner. Anyway, when I walked in, the snobbery was palpable... it was clear that my bike was viewed as worthless, an attitude that really did surprise me. I had thought any bicycle outfit would have some appreciation for the love between man and machine, but it was completely absent. Needless to say, I got no help, except to be shown some high-dollar new bicycles by a salesperson who couldn't fathom why I would want to still ride my old bike.Where I live, I see lots of people on weekends riding around with fancy tight shorts and shiny, space-age bikes... not really going anywhere important, I guess out for a fun ride, that's all. I never see anybody like me in an old t-shirt riding to the grocery store, library, school, etc. So, if you have a fat wallet and ride for fun and fad, Cole's is probably a great place. If you ride to actually get places and you genuinely love the spirit of it all, you might be a bit thrown off by the highbrow attitude in there.

They don't seem to understand how to interact with other human beings. Instead of asking what you need they tell you what you need, which makes for an odd interaction when dealing with staff who barely know what they're talking about and are making assumptions about your setup. Too tedious to make doing business there bearable.

Great bikes and super-helpful staff/owners. And if they have to order a bike, it's way cheaper than doing it yourself online.

Horrible place. I called up and asked to have my new road bike fitted, the owner said to take it in and she would do it for free. Great I thought. I Googled around a bit beforehand so I knew what to expect. Well she took one measurement (of the 6 or so I was expecting) and tried to sell me a $30 stem immediately. Nothing else. I'd been there before for an overpriced tuneup and thought I'd give them another chance. Never again. The employees have no authority to do anything for you, and it just feels like a terrible place to work (and be). Super snobby about riding in general, and if you're new they'll make you feel like an idiot. Avoid like the plague.

Too expensive. In some cases cheaper to get a new bike. I have noticed an attitude some times. I think because my boyfriend works on bikes. Very seldom does he need there services. U need bike repair contact me.

Great Service! I was going out of town and my bike was in for a tune up. I forgot that the store was not open on Wednesdays. They took time on their day off to come in and give me my bike for vacation. Not many establishments go out of their way to make the customer happy like Cole's does.

I have shopped at Coles for over 25 years. I have found them to be very helpful an knowledgeable. I have found their regular prices often beat other stores sale prices. I commute to work 13 miles one way averaging 800 miles per year plus another 1600 miles pleasure riding. I have a TREK 720 hybrid, I believe it is 21 years old, Coles will show a new bike when I come in for service but always fix my old one. If they detect a part that is worn where it is near the end of its useful life or may not be safe they will tell me. Sometimes I replace other times I do not. I do not have a wallet that can always comply. When I finally replace my hybrid it will be another Coles bike.

The scum of bike shops. The only time i come to this shop is when i'm in need of either a new set of grips, or i need a stem bolt, etc. The small things. Every time I am greeted by a grouchy employee, who is very uneducated about the bmx industry, products, and the overall current trend of it. We live in an era where 90% or less of 'street' bmx riders do not use brakes. My most recent encounter at this particular shop, i was greeted by a young woman no more then 20 years old, to immediately accused of being an 'unprofessional' cyclist, simply because we are not users of brakes. Countless times I have been abruptly interrupted while browsing for my small needs (the only reason I would ever go here) by someone trying to sell me low quality products, and when I am not interested, they persist to attempt to sell me their low end merchandise. I can't speak for every cyclist, but I can't think of the last time i heard anything good about this place. I recommend anyone to avoid this shop at all costs.
