Saw that this service was 24/7 so called around 6:45am to call for a quote on making a spare key for my car and opening my car door since I had no key. He said he needed to come in person and to text him my address so he can make his way there after. I texted right away, assumed he was coming but then called again at 7:10am to make sure. He said he'd be there in 30 mins but did not show up until 8:15am. He proceeded to look at my car quoted my about 380-400, which I then said it was way too much. We agreed on 225, kept saying he was giving me a huge discount. He then opened door, did my key, but somehow lost this small piece that goes on the car handle and proceeded to take another 25-30 mins somehow trying to fit it in without the piece (he mentioned that he saw that piece roll under the car but didn't think much of it until then), asked to borrow my phone light to look under the car, couldn't find it, then he used his own light to try to find it for the next 15-20 mins. He called someone and said they might have to bring him the piece because he lost it but that not yet until he found it (which made no sense). At this point, I asked how long he thought this might take since I had to go to work at 9am, at this point it was already 8:50am and he replied 'I don't know, until I find the piece'.....Needless to say, I had to cancel work, I had to move my car back so he could search under the car, he kept trying to add some possible prices for things I didn't understand, which I then said I didn't have enough money for so I rejected them, and he didn't finish the job until 9:50am. He ended up saying he increased 25 dollars for activating the key earlier, which I was unaware of. Totaling 250. I was upset at this because I was transparent at the beginning that I wanted to know the prices of things before agreeing to them so when he told me this, I was surprised and caught off guard. At the end he asked how I was paying, which I replied with credit card. He said that paying with card charged me an extra 10 precent on top of the 250, so he suggested cash instead. I proceeded to go to bank for the 250, came back to him 2 mins later for the receipt and then he said I owed him 20 more dollars for taxes and fees. I then proceeded to remind him that he told me it would be 225 flat at the beginning then 250 after he increased it by 25 for 'activation' fee that he said he had to call someone to do it. He seemed to be upset, which I then told him that I was upset because not only did he lose a piece that took him almost an hour to find, but he also would not give me an estimate or update on his work which caused me to miss work. When I said those things, he said that those things happen and it wasn't his fault.Nothing against the guy since he did ended up leaving trying to make it not awkward as he was leaving, but I don't know, I personally would not recommend. I called other locksmiths after and according to them, I definitely overpayed. But I didn't know, so this was a lesson for me. Good luck using them! Got the job done so at least, thanks for that.This happened at the end of April, I still have my receipts. I had written it, but felt bad and did not want your business to be affected more because of COVID. I just wanted people to be aware.
