One of the best key shops left in town. Keys are cut fast and correctly and the shop stays clean. I noticed they tend to get busy around noon if you stop in, and always make sure to give yourself enough time to schedule a day or so ahead, They get busy like any other business. Fast, Affordable, Efficient.

I used One Minute Key to install new locks when I moved into my condo last year. They showed up on time, were true to their estimate and put in really good locks. So, I come here whenever I need a key made. I've never had a problem. The keys always work, and the service has always been good. The counter help has always been friendly, and personable.

Used to be the best most responsive locksmith in SRQ. Called Wednesday last week to schedule an ASAP change, which hes for me at least 4-5 times in 10yrs. The very definition of service. Spoke to a younger kid on Wednesday who seemed to care less, gave me the full BS runaround. Scheduled for Friday morning. Its Monday morning and no sign of them. I just called and the young man answered the phone, can I put you on hold? I asked for the owner, his answer was he doesnt come in anymore. Nuff said, time to move along. Such a shame, once a great, responsive company, now could care less. The new level of customer service.

After receiving a call from one of our guests explaining his daughter accidentally locked the guest bedroom door and none of the keys provided by the office would work, I reached out to One Minute Lock and Key. Since it was Father's Day morning, I expected the worst, and even if I could get support, an excruciatingly high bill. Bob answered the phone promptly (he was on call that day) and was very nice. He took time to explain the options and said that he was currently in Bradenton (a city well to our north), and could be there in approximately 45 minutes (depending on traffic).Bob must have dropped everything and left immediately - he got to our condo in only 30 minutes and called just before he arrived. Bob was very polite, professional and proficient. He not only opened the door quickly, but also re-keyed both bedroom locks to match the front door lock (no more potential lockouts). Once the work was complete and the locks tested, he called me for my credit card information. The total was less than I expected for expedited Sunday service.Thank you very much Bob!!

The guy kept alluding to his personal problems and had to get his boss to make me some keys because he couldn't figure it out. Of the 6 keys I had made, only 3 work.

Extremely kind, friendly, helpful and accommodating staff. Their actions show their care for their customers. Been getting keys I need made here for 20 years and have never been dissatisfied. They have significantly more blanks available then your standard big Home Improvement store, greatly increasing your chances of getting a copy of that non-standard key. THE go-to place in Gulf Gate for your locksmithing needs.

I've been using these folks for so many years that I can't remember when it started. I wouldn't dream of going elsewhere (except for the one time I panicked and got mixed up). They show up fast. They solve the problem and give wise advice. They make extra keys. They are courteous and friendly. What more can I say? You'd be crazy to use anyone else. I see that some folks report a less than wonderful experience with Jerry and the others at this shop. They are definitely home grown, but one is among the best-read people I know and all have always been friendly and courteous with me. They've also been prompt, extracting me from some pretty stupid situations (Yes, I locked all keys inside and didn't give a copy to a neighbor....). I have to wonder about the people who report a bad experience; maybe they helped to cause it.

Great place 5 stars well deserved. Three motorcycle keys made in under 3 minutes. In and out within 5 minutes. All keys worked first try! Great craftsmanship and quick service. I'll go back here if I need anything done for any locks, keys, etc.

While the job was done promptly - $85 was absurd for 15 minutes to make on site tumbler repairs. Average of $340 per hour - could at least use Vaseline !!! This local will NEVER recommend or use again.

They cared about me in my time of need! I ride a scooter full time and last night, like an idiot, I locked my phone, all of my money, my apartment keys and my scooter keys inside the seat storage of my scooter in the parking lot outside of Publix....on a Sunday. The store manager called One Minute Key Shop and the locksmith rushed right over. He worked for a looooonnnng time trying to unlock my scooter, but the lock wouldn't budge. He was not successful and I don't blame him because it was a highly unusual lock. BUT he offered me a ride home and he was quickly able to unlock my apartment (since my apartment keys were in the scooter) and, knowing that all my money was locked up, he didn't ask for any payment, which was just way too kind! Once I was in my home, I was able to get on my laptop and reach out to a scooter mechanic via facebook and enlist help. The mechanic advised me on how to go in and manually unlock the seat storage, which is a confidential method that only scooter mechanics know how to do. I was successful! I got my keys out and took my scooter home! But I would've been really screwed if he would've just left me at Publix. I am so greatful to the One Minute Key Shop!!! And I will call them if I ever get locked out of anything again.

I am posting this in response to the review posted by Jeeps on 8-18-11. I was present when this individual was in our shop. It is unfortunate that a customer is angered to the point of being vicious, and libelous. That would never be our intention, nor have we ever received such a scathing review in our 23 years in business. I would like to address several of this individuals complaints. 1.) This individual was not waiting in our shop for forty five minutes. fifteen to twenty minutes at the most. 2.) He came to our shop to have automotive keys produced by code. This is NOT the same as simply duplicating a key. He must give us his code, we must then reference it to our computer software, and set up our code key machine to produce the keys. Where a simple duplicated key costs $1.80 at our shop, a set of automotive code keys is $19.99. This price has been the same for over sixteen years. Some car dealerships will produce them for less as a courtesy to their customers. But I don't know of ANY locksmiths making automotive code keys for a 'couple of bucks' as this individual claims. I furnished him with three Chrysler /Jeep keys for $19.99 plus tax. Three days later, he calls our shop angry and says the keys don't work. ( 72 hours) ???? I asked him to return the keys, so that we could re make them. He said that he had already had them made else where. I explained that there is no refund on keys made by code, and there is a sign posted at our counter informing our customers of this policy. (a policy most locksmiths uphold). We do however absolutely guarantee all of our duplicated keys, satisfaction, or your money back. I am more than happy to offer a store credit, or to offer a replacement on any code keys that don't meet spec, but this individual didn't want to hear any of that.Additionally, he wasn't able to tell me where, and at what price that he had another working set of keys made. Just silence on the other end of the phone. Hmmm. Again, after three days!! He was all too eager to pepper me with four letter expletives on the phone. Rather than engage him I chose to simply hang up. Calling everyone on my staff idiots, accusing us of treating him rudely, accusing us of not being reputable.....Saying we don't know what we are doing are nothing more than the rants of a dangerously angry individual. Someone who would rather be mean than to have the moxie to come to our shop in person for a resolution. We are gratefull, and fair to all of our customers, and our 23 years at the same location proves this. Thank You.... John B.
