I love the fact that there's such a great local hardware store with such nice people to help with all your needs! Shop local! Especially at this locally owned store, you won't be disappointed!!!

Every time I go in I'm greeted by employees. Unlike Jim's lumber when I ask for their opinion they are glad to help. I buy all my supplies from here. What they don't have I go to Boise. I've always have a good experience at this store.

While pulling our airstream our fly rod holder fell apart at the joint from high winds. I decided to upgrade from just a friction joint by drilling and tapping for a 3/8 bolt. The girls asked me what I needed to do the job and walked me to each isle to get the parts I needed. The store was very well organized and they knew exactly where each item was. A pleasure shopping here

I've had great customer service with my interactions with store employees and usually find 90% of what I need, for a small town they have a good selection! The remodel done a few years ago help tremendously! They are one of the few businesses in town that offer a military discount . Thank you!

I have been to this store many times, and every time is a pleasant experience. The staff is very knowledgeable about the products, and Lisa is super kind and helpful. They matched paint perfectly for my home. I ask a lot of questions and they are always very patient with me ;)

I have visited this store a few times to purchase paint as they carry the brand I like. However, each interaction led to very poor customer service. Far below par. They were very rude when I asked about color matching, were not helpful or attentive and didn't seem to have very good knowledge of their products. In fact, my questions seemed to annoy them verse trying to gain a loyal customer. They do not seem to care about their customers or the level of service they are providing. I expected that their products would be a little more than average as it is a small hometown store (I usually try to shop local whenever possible especially in my own community) and am usually very happy to pay a higher price to shop local. However due to their lack of customer service, I very much regret that I will not be giving my future business to this location.

I personally wouldn't even give them 1 star but that was the only way to write a review! The owner is beyond rude. We've been in there many times and bought our siding there. This will be THE LAST TIME! The cashier rang up the wrong siding for my husband. The owner called me screaming that we owe him $6.00! Like it was our fault! My husband told him to put it on our charge card and he said he couldn't and that my husband had to come back to pay him! Never in all my life have I had an owner of a business scream at me because their employee screwed up!! From here on out Jim's will get all our business!!

I moved to Mt. Home 4 months ago and, as this store is the closest one to my home, I went there first when I began shopping for lumber, paint, hardware etc. for a new outbuilding I was putting up on my property. On my first visit, when I was just looking around the store to get ideas on prices, I was never greeted, offered help or otherwise interacted with. Even though there were several people working who saw me, no one offered help. I thought this was a bit odd but didnt give it much thought. I bought a couple of items and left. The woman at the checkout was pleasant and friendly. On my second visit the exact same thing happened again. Despite being seen by the workers, who were not busy helping any other customers, no one greeted me or offered help. In fact, when I needed to find some one to see about purchasing lumber, I had to hunt them down. The same thing happened on my third and fourth visit. At this point I was ready to make a major purchase of lumber which I did. But, by then I had decided to go to Jims Lumber in town. I had a dozen or more 4x8 sheets of CDX I needed cut and Carrs charges for this service. I believe they also charge for delivery but I could be wrong on that. For me, Jims Lumber is the place to go. I have been greeted every single time I have been there and immediately asked what they can do to help. The have cut dozens of sheets of CDX for me and delivered lumber, sheet rock, paint, and other supplies all for free. I just call them up and they bring everything over within a couple of hours. They also seem to make an effort to bring high quality lumber - no twists or warps or damaged 2x4 for example. Despite my experience I have continued to go to Carrs for small items because they are about a mile closer to my house. I have now been there 11 times (I started counting after the fourth visit) and have yet to be greeted or offered help, even when the workers are not busy with any other customers. I always have to hunt someone down to give me a hand when I need help. Once you find someone they are always helpful and friendly but I dislike the fact that I am generally ignored. I have spent several thousand dollars at Jims Lumber because of this very issue and Jims will have my business from here on out because of their helpfullness. The people arent unkind, rude or unpleasant at Carrs - just unhelpful. I have written this review because I am someone who likes to support local businesses and have a connection with my community. I like to get to know the people in the stores I shop at regularly, learn their names, and greet them. And I like to be noticed and offered help when I come into a store - even if I dont need help I like being offered. I dont like the feeling that my presence is an imposition. I hope the owner of Carrs will read this review and make some changes for the better.

Absolutely rude. Moment I walked in, the guy at the counter got in my face and wanted to fight me. Maybe he had a bad day, but not my problem. Owner didn't even apologize. She had a smug attitude the whole time. They lied to our face, and don't know their products. By far the worst True Value I have ever experienced. Go to A-Z Lumber, they have been fantastic, and Jace will give good customer service without issues or drama

I am an amature woodworker...barely. My wife and I will come up with some idea and we bring it to the folks at True Value, and they help us turn the ideas into reality. 'What is the best paint or stain for a large dinosaur?' They had an answer. 'My son wants a castle, where do I start?' No problem. 'We don't want to buy computer desks, we want to build custom desks, but our skill is limited.' They recommended converting custom kitchen cabinets into desks. Big or small, they can help on any project.

All the employees are helpful and they have almost everything I've needed (no riding mower), great place to shop and prices are the same or less expensive than walmart often times for the same or better quality product and would rather do business with a locally owned store. I wish ACE had everything like home depot but is a great place to get most of what you need at a good price A+++.
