So this isn't the first time Karl has helped us...he has been our go-to locksmith for several years in Vernon Hills! He has helped replace the locks on each of the 3 homes we've bounced from...very responsive, speedy, professional, and just an overall great guy!Super nice, and gets the job done right every time! He even bailed me out in a pinch after hours when I snapped my old door handle off completely! Karl was at my house in less than 20 minutes, and was able to fix the handle and save my back door! Won't ever use anyone other than Karl...thank you again! :)

I went to Karl to install a small cylinder lock on some motorcycle luggage. For those who are unfamiliar, it's a box mounted to a motorcycle for extra storage. I needed the box keyed to my motorcycle key, as the lock cylinder arrived without the tumblers inserted.After making an appointment with Karl, I brought in all the hardware (box, latch, cylinder, etc) to the shop. He took a few minutes to look it over, explained the process to me, and quoted me a competitive price. We agreed that a turnaround time of 1-7 days was plenty.Karl called me within 3 hours of dropping it off with the job completed. We set up a time the following day for pick up. Karl showed me how to operate the mechanism, how it worked, and even helped me mount it to my motorcycle.Could not have had a better experience working with Karl. There are few businesses today that offer the level of service I experienced with Karlock, and I will be sure to use this company again for all my future locksmith needs. Would 100% recommend working with Karl to anyone who appreciates high quality workmanship and superior service.

Took him 2min for both of the job!he was just 10min late from his original time he said he will be in the shop, he felt bad and throw some discount. Very honest and reasonable locksmith. Karl came to my home quickly (maybe 20 minutes after I called). He unlocked our interior garage door using what seemed to be a state-of -the-art gadget. However, it was clear that the gadget would be worthless in the hands of the unskilled individual. Karl was skilled in his trade. He knew what tools to use, how to use them, and in the correct order. Additionally, he was very friendly to my wife and young daughter which was important at a stressful time like being locked out of one's home. Finally, he educated me as to what he was doing and how locks, bolts and keys worked. Of course, that does not make me a locksmith now, but it is nice to have some extra knowledge into a very interesting trade/subject.

Excellent, knowledgeable, speedy service! I locked myself out of my house in Lake Forest at rush hour as I was leaving to pick up my daughter from daycare. Karl was on his way minutes after getting my frantic call. He managed to unlock my door very quickly and to my relief, I was able to get my daughter before daycare closed. Karl is the absolute BEST! After breaking off a key in the ignition of my car. He was able to research, match and cut a new key from the 2 pieces of broken key! I first called the dealer who informed me the key would need to be ordered from Germany and would take over a week to arrive... I then called a number of locksmiths who said they couldn't do it before I even finished my sentence. I then called Karl who was extremely friendly, and said no problem I'm sure I have a blank come on in! So.... I regretfully locked myself out of the house. Pretty frustrated, I called Karl to help me out. He was GREAT! His shop is in the area & it took him less than 15 minutes to come out! He was quick, SUPER nice, & had suggestions for upgraded locks without being pushy. He even tried to help with our broken garage door, which was part of why I locked myself out. Glad he was able to come to my rescue, because I don't think I could have trusted another company. I get sketched out pretty easily.. especially when it comes to the security of my family. So today I was locked out I left my keys in my car. He came quick gave me a price estimate over the phone of 80$. HE NEVER STATED IT WOULD BE A CASH ESTIMATE. when he came he asked me if I was paying card or cash. I said card. He said oh the estimate I gave you was a cash estimate. LISTEN I dont know many people who carry around 80-100$ in cash on a daily basis. I felt ripped off. Because he had already came and I knew he would charge me for that too. So I went ahead and did the service with him. But I dont like being tricked and ripped off. I wouldnt use him again. If you do use this service be careful and ask for all prices Cash and non cash payments.
