I was extremely impressed with this company. I had just finished moving into my new home in Frederick and promptly locked my keys inside. My friend and I were exhausted and thought that this mishap was going to ruin our relaxing evening. But we called Matthew Schoonover, and he met us at my house within 30 minutes! He was able to pick the lock and re-key it, which I had been planning to do anyway, and then provide me with numerous copies of the new key--all within less than a half-hour. It was astonishing. On top of all that, Matthew was a super-friendly guy, willing to answer all our questions and even offer advice on fixing a sticky door. He told us that he's on call 24/7 because his company is small, but he didn't seem bothered about that in the slightest. If you ever need a locksmith, you can't do better than this company. I highly recommend it.

On a Sunday morning, I locked myself out on my porch and I called Gene's after trying another locksmith's number with no luck. Matt answered the call in the middle of ordering breakfast and came to my location immediately without even putting his straw in his drink. He rescued me from the deck in no time flat, and I hope I won't need his services again anytime soon, but his number is in my phone, and will be my first call next time.

I lost both the original and spare keys to my car. The last time this happened (yes Im irresponsible), I went through my dealership to have a new one made. The dealership charged me for a tow plus several hundred dollars to make a new key (even without the fob remote) which took a few days. This time I contacted Genes on a Sunday and it turned out they could make me a new key for much less, by Monday, plus a spare for free, AND because of the model/year they didnt even need my car to be towed there. It literally cost me 10% of the dealership price and was faster. Amazing. Copying the rest of my set of keys was inexpensive too. Plus Matt is cool. Highly recommend.

Price quote over the phone, even suggested calling insurance for assistance and they ended up covering a portion of it! While in town visiting my mom, we locked ourselves out of the house after a morning out with my four month old. I was out of bottles and my little guy was due to eat in 20 minutes. I quickly called Gene's for assistance, anticipating a meltdown from my little one at any moment. Matt answered the phone and quickly assessed the issue and said he could drop everything he was doing and be to us within 15 minutes. Upon arrival, he assessed the door and had it open in less than 10 minutes. All the while my baby remained calm and I was able to get inside just in time for his 1:30 feeding. Matt saved the day - his sense of urgency, professionalism and knowledge of the type of lock we had was astounding. He even took the time to educate me on how this particular lock works and was able to make us spare keys on the spot (so that this hopefully never happens again)! Genes for the win!

After a quick Google search and browsing reviews we called Genes Lock Service. Matt answered the call and asked us to send some photos of the door and lock.
