I was charged $300. to have a $20. Lock replaced. Service call was no more than 45 minutes. I contacted another locksmith, showed them the (invoice) bill, the old lock, door frame and the timeframe it took for the repair locksmith to perform the job. Locksmith who gave second opinion said I was very much ripped off - cost should have been approx. $150. I would not recommend this locksmith company.

Both the owners are extremely friendly and helpful. I had a problem with a deadbolt on a motorhome that would not open and close properly, and actually locked me out of the RV on one occasion. When my parts were non-standard, they talked me through doing the repairs myself, and didn't charge me for their advice and consultation after several visits to their shop. They were very knowledgeable and the work-through went exactly as they stated. I highly recommend Hunterdon Lock & Safe. Thanks for your help.

What could be worse than locking yourself out of your home on a cold Sunday evening? Not having a dependable locksmith you can call.Lucky for me, there's Hunterdon lock & safe. They came within 20 minutes, and were able to create a key for my door right in their truck.Special note: if you have your original keys, take pictures of them with the numbers on them and then it's easy for the locksmith to quickly make a key. Luckily, I could call my husband who had those keys and he could cite the numbers. Highest reviews for getting me in out of the cold quickly. Thank you so much!

I am writing this review because I was locked out of my house. The owner came to my house quickly (which is why the rating is a 1). He spend 10 - 15 minutes maximum at my home and presented me with a $200.44 bill. When I asked how the bill was calculated he said travel (10 minutes) and knowledge. Excuse me, I always considered knowledge a given. Oh, and I can stop at the shop and have some keys made ... all for $200.44. There are plenty of locksmith places out there - learn from my mistake and make some phone calls first.

Helpful and friendly. I have used them twice. Once I had to get a duplicate of an old car key that they didn't have a blank for. They did the cut even though I bought the blank myself, and other places would not do the cut unless I bought the blank from them.The other was to replace a busted lock at my house. They came out that day and replaced only the parts that needed to be replaced and so the bulk of the charge was for the trip out to my house.

Brought in a Thule car roof box with a key broken off in the lock. They expected to be able to extract it and immediately sprayed a 'lubricant' into the lock and told us they'd call if/when they got it out. After several days I called to see what was up and spoke to a very friendly gentleman who said it was being stubborn but he'd get more info and call back . He did ask if I had tried to glue the broken key back together because, apparently, people do that. I said no (which I truly hadn't...who would ever think that would work!?) and he told me there was some kind of gunk in the lock causing trouble.A few hours later, a got a call back from what sounded like an older gentleman who said they couldn't get the key out and blamed much of the trouble on 'whatever the liquid is poured down the side of the case.' I told him I absolutely put nothing in the lock, liquid or otherwise. He seemed disbelieving. I then asked if there were any alternative fixes such as drilling the lock but he wasn't interested. When my wife went to pick up the case, she immediately saw the 'liquid' the gentleman mentioned...she described it as looking like silver spray paint on the lock. She asked what it was and, again, the gentleman insisted it must have been from us...that their lubricant does not stain. My wife insisted it was not dropped off like that and he just shrugged.I'm only giving them two stars because at least they didn't charge us for the labor.

I came to Hunterdon Lock & Safe with a difficult to solve front door lock, handle & deadbolt problem from a 28 year old door in Beaver Brook. Jim knew exactly what we were dealing with and not only did they solve the matching exterior problem (anyone who has dealt with home owner associations knows what I mean), they guided me through every step of the replacement without requiring a visit and saved us hundreds of dollars by finding a solution to our existing hardware rather than buying an expensive new set. At every turn, Jim and his staff had only one concern...how to solve the problem the most efficient way and save the customer money. Being a Realtor for the last 10 years, I have some experience with door lock issues. I now trust all my door hardware and lock issues to Hunterdon Lock and Safe.
