I hope this place stays in business for forever. When I was little, like 4 or 5, this was the place you got keys made. Home Depot and Lowes did not exist yet. I know, Im old. Whatever. My Mom would take me here and I would play with the safes and all the locks. To this day I can honestly say this place started me on a career in engineering. Thank you Carl Zipf and thank you for your kindness to a 5 year old kid playing in your shop while his Mom got her keys made.

Carl Zipf Lock Shop saved the day! I needed copies of tubular keys made, and I spent a while trying to find someone who could copy them. Finally, someone suggested Carl Zipf, and I took the keys over there. The gentleman that helped me was super quick, made me the exact copies I need, and had me out the door within 5 minutes. Would HIGHLY recommend for anything lock-related!

Not happy - made an appointment for some lock changes for doors at our office. No one showed up - had to call to see what happened. Then got a call that no one could make it. I understand that these things happen but I should have received a call proactively. I also asked if someone could come later today after hours and that I'd stay and they said I'd have to pay overtime, even though my appointment was for regular hours. These locks had to be changed for security reasons and now I'm having to find another company to do it and am out additional money

Give them the locks and give them the key to copy so they can key the locks to the key before the holidays did not get back any thing went down went over what I needed again weeks later got keys 1 lock never got out the broken key they said .I couldn't figure out why if the hole cyl.had to come out and they didn't have parts for the other lock

I have used them for many in the past for high security deadbolts, safes, and re keying. Recently I had a tool box lock cylinder I needed a key for so I took it in and was out with a new key in a few minutes. The staff is knowledgeable as well as friendly. I have locksmiths closer to me but I still go to Carl Zipfs!

UPDATE:Upon returning to Carl Zipf, they took the keys back (we dug them out of the trash) and apologized for the miscommunication. As it turns out, another detail about the cylinder was lost in communication which they are also helping us fix with a new cylinder.ORIGINAL:I would love to give Carl Zipf a five star review because normally they do a good job. Today it was a total failure on their part, and they refused to take responsibility for it, costing us an additional $32 on a $47 job. They sold my guy a brand new handset for $115 and fifteen new keys for $32 despite his telling them to fix the tumblers in the old handset and cut fifteen new keys to it. They told him he needed a new handset, and then proceeded to cut fifteen keys to it instead of the old one he brought in. When I sent them back, I talked on the phone with the women that did the work. She insisted that my guys asked for a new handset <-lie #1, and that there was no misunderstanding because my guys knew the keys weren't keyed alike <-lie #2. I'm able to confirm lie #2 (the one that cost cost us money) because my guys were surprised to find that the keys didn't work in the other door. At the very least they could have charged us at cost for the keys. A quick Google search revealed the cost of schlage blanks at 20 per. That would've been $3 instead of $32, and I wouldn't have minded paying it and giving them back the mistake keys, instead of paying them profit for keys that are useless and now in the trash.Ultimately, I'm going to use Carl Zipf because they're the only pro shop in town. But I cannot trust them to work with my guys in the future. This experience shows me that they'll try to sell you new without fixing stuff, and they don't take responsibility for keys they screw up. You've been warned. Don't pay for stuff unless it's perfect, don't trust them.

Lowe's no longer rekeys so they told me to go here. Brought 5 of the same locks with the master key and the new key. This would take Lowe's 5 minutes each. I have been here over two hours and this kid is still struggling. 14 other customers have come and gone. Young kid is just awkwardly giggling about it and now tells me he can't tell me how much longer it will take him. 1st and last time here.

Great service although we did not use them as we needed a new chipped car key right away and they were out of the blanks for our make, they were able to refer us to another shop. The selection of keys and safes here is huge for a small shop. The staff were polite and very quick to get tho us even though there were 2 other customers before us they were able to finish with them and we were out in about 15 minutes which I think is very reasonable since the customers before us were getting keys made to.The shop is a little cluttered looking with all the displays and the safes did not have a clearly marked price tag on the models I was interested in but the staff did answer the questions I had about the models.

I own an old Victorian home and one of my locks broke. I was nervous about having someone mess with my antique door, but couldn't be happier with the results! Steve was on time and very courteous. He also ended up changing the rest of my locks on my screen doors and back doors for a very affordable price! I found them based off of reviews and highly recommend them!!! I came in to get a knob and deadbolt matched to the rest of my house, and I can say that their customer service was terrible. I waited 30 minutes before I was even acknowledged (the was only one other customer in the store), and once the associate finally did, he was so rude that I left. He told me my question about lock compatibility was stupid, as was getting a knob to match the others in my house. Horrible experience. I will never come back and recommend others don't either.

If you need anything key related. This is the place to go. I needed two ignition keys for me and my wifes vehicles. At the dealer it would have cost us almost 600 dollars. Its damn hard to find a place that will cut and program the keys. I got them here for under two hundred total. I know it sounds like a lot but these are ignition keys. One for a Mazda and one for a Malibu with the chips embedded and programmed into them. I had both done in about 30 minutes, programmed tested and working. Staff is friendly and the olderstyle business feel is a nice change from these cookie cutter generic new stores.
