Need a worn down key made for my old Jeep. The lady helping me was great. An ace hardware told me my key was a transponder key(its not, they have some new fancy key machine) and even after I told them it was a standard 80's GM key, they still could help me. The one from Walmart wouldn't even fit in my ignition. I got 2 keys made here that worked better than my original one.

True Value has a nice selection of tid bits and useful unique items. I spent a good time looking around and didn't even see the whole place. It has a super nice, welcoming, Mom & Pop shop atmosphere- don't know about anyone else but I truly miss that! Sharon (I believe) was especially helpful. She surely went out of her way to help with making a car key, wasn't as simple as it sounds. She even walked to my car to test it herself, which she didn't have to do. And I'm 34.. Coulda used the extra walk ;) The cashier was pretty knowledgeable too! They all were super nice. True Value is a place I will be visiting again!

Went in, and was greated by the cashier. Took 1 minute to grab my stuff, and go to checkout. Waited 5, yes 5 fkn minutes for someone to check me out. Walked around the store looking for an employee. No one was around. Left without buying anything. Will not go back. Fri 10/5 11am.

I get that I don't look like the typical grey haired DIYer or whatever, but the lady that followed me from isle to isle and just stood at the end watching me was absolutely uncalled for and frankly just made me extremely uncomfortable. So much so that I stopped looking around and put everything back that I needed and just ordered it online for a quarter of the price. Way to go. Seriously, there's a pretty broad line between being helpful, welcoming, and letting the customer know you're there if they need you, and making people feel awkward, completely unwanted, and really just profiled. If I were ever going to shop here again I'd send in a middle-aged man to grab what I need, as the five that were in the store the same time as me didn't seem to get nearly the same level of scrutiny and 'helpfulness' that I did when I was simply looking to grab what I needed and look around for a few things for projects I've been considering. Better yet, just go to home Depot, Lowe's, or the internet -_-

This is a convenient local hardware store. Price And selection are just ok. The paint is actually very good. Get one of the women to help you with the paint as they seem to know the options better than the guys at the store.

Staff really wants to help, and are generally knowledgeable. If they don't know the answer they'll try to find it. Selection is limited, but it's not homedepot or lowes, so adjust your expectation. Usually have seasonal stuff on sale.

I like true value hardware stores but had an issue with this particular store i purchased an item that was the wrong part and needed to return it with the original packaging and the receipt and they wouldn't make good on it and i was purchasing the correct part.

The staff has always been friendly and helpful. I consider this the closest to a 'local' hardware store for Collegeville you're going to get. Yes, the prices are a bit higher than your big box stores, I would say around 10% more. The catch/sell point? It's just around the corner. I can run over there quickly, grab, go and back in the house before I would even make it to the closest Lowes. The convenience is worth the extra cost.It does not always have everything you want or need, but I would say that they have it about 80% of the time.

The Trappe, PA store is poorly managed. They can't seem to get the prices right and when you show them that the item was located in a lower-priced section, they won't do the honorable thing and honor that price. Instead, after inconveniencing you, they insist on charging the higher price, kind of like bait and switch. This has happened to me on 3 separate visits. I will never go back. I will shop at Lowe's and Home Depot instead. Alan Kagan 10/9/15
