Santa Barbara Locksmiths Inc. is by far the best and fairest locksmith in SB. I read some of these reviews and have to laugh. A service call is to get their locksmith , their van, equipment and tools to your location. The service call covers wear and tear on the vehicle, insurance, maintenance on vehicle, fuel, and whatever other costs associated with the vehicle need to be covered. Those vans carry a lot of weight and some literally run 24/7.An hourly rate covers locksmith wages and costs the business incurs employing that skilled laborer. An hourly rate of $85-$90 during normal business hours is cheap for SB . Ive never known SB Locksmiths to hold a client to a full hours labor unless they spent a full hour on site. Usually a portion of that amount, say 1/2 hr spent plus service call would be $130. Labor rates can be a gray area when it comes to things like rekeying your locks which is a separate charge not falling under hourly, whereas installing a deadbolt (fresh install, no existing holes) is quoted at an hourly rate. I cant speak for SB Locksmiths and how they do their pricing but know that you are getting the best service from some of the most dedicated professionals Ive ever had the pleasure to work with.Remember you called them, they didnt call you.

The passenger door of our van got stuck with the belt during a roadtrip in the area, the lock broke and things looked like a disaster. Matt and Esteban have been super nice and unstuck the door in few minutes providing good tips on what to do next.Super nice people and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended

They take care of you really well. Great prices too. I have a 1981 BMW E20i. Quite old right? I lost my key to it. I asked around town and only two can make a key. One was gonna charge me about $300 and his reason was that it was a lot of work and it's an old car. Santa Barbara locksmith was able to do it for $30 plus $5 for every copy I needed. (I am making this review weeks after I've gotten it done so I can't remember if $30 was exactly how much I paid. Nevertheless, it's a fraction of what the other place is.)

My house was rented and I was living in NY till last week. In March the tenants called the Santa Barbara Locksmiths to fix the front door lock. Oscar came. I paid $205. The door was better but still hard to unlock from the outside. The tenants did not want to deal with this problem again as they were leaving shortly. I called them as soon as I got back, explaining the circumstances and even providing the name of the technician sent. Reply: if you want somebody to go and check it pay again, it is after the warranty period!! Needless to say I will never call them again or recommend them.

I just called to try an arrange having locks replaced on my horse trailer. I gave the woman the address and she said the tech would call me right back to come out. I had a couple appropriate questions such as : approximate cost and all of a sudden she said 'we dont service that area' when she had already told me they did. Then she hung up on me, what?!?

We live on the same street as SB Locksmiths 6 blocks away and were charged $80 service fee for driving that distance to our house. The lock needed to be disassembled due to some debris inside that blocked it from working or functioning. The technician cleaned up the parts and put the lock back together with a simple screwdriver. The labor time was less than an hour and the bill for this easy job was $145. We are not working with this company anymore because I called 2 other locksmiths after and their service fees were only $55 and $45 plus half the hourly rate in the amount of $65 of what this company charges as $85/hour. We are going to contact KEYT/C.J. Ward who helps ripped off customers to get their money back because they were overcharged.

I got out of my car, last week, at my bank, but couldn't find my cash deposit. I looked everywhere, going through my car, from top to bottom. I went back home, looked everywhere, and finally decided to call my bank to see if anyone had found my cash. I was totally surprised and overwhelmed when I found out that Tony and Edwin, from Santa Barbara Locksmiths, had turned in my deposit! I'm so grateful to these men, as it could have very easily been slipped in someone's pocket, and I would have been out the money in my account. I just want these two honest men, with integrity, to know how very grateful I am, and what a nice reminder that there really are good people out there.
