I love helping the small stores in our neighborhoods & I really enjoy coming here. What is surprising is the younger adults that work here and how helpful & knowledgeable they are! My last visit Katie was really helpful in my quest and she knew where everything was. She also had a few other suggestions as well which I appreciated. Thank you for having great staff & giving the next generation a chance to excel! I'll keep coming back!

Just moved to town and needed plumbing parts for kitchen and bathroom. They had exactly what I needed and even gave me a discount when the price on a small plastic part seemed too high. Being able to look through drawers of small parts, and then getting an unexpected discount at the cash register - This is the kind of thing I miss when I go to the big box stores. I'll be stopping here before I make the trip to Madison.

Not sure what has changed recently but the last few times I stopped in I received very poor service from the staff. Not only did I have to go outside and bring in the price sign for the 4 people standing around the cash register discussing current events so I would get the right price I also had to load up my vehicle with , 5 forty lb bags plant soil by my self. No offer was made to assist. This past experience happened on the 4th of July. The web site for Dorns said closing at 3pm. I must admit I was glad to see them open on a national holiday but felt kinda bad for those who were working UNTIlL I arrived at the store and was promptly told they are closing in a few minutes. When I mentioned the web site I was promptly told the web site was wrong. Then a stern page when out over the PA announcing to the customers to hurry up and bring there purchases foreword to pay for them. Hummmm I wondered as again I was left to fend for myself with finding the right size piece of pipe a nice guy came back and helped me. The only guy in the store who seemed to care. As I was walking back up to the front the lights went out as they were closing down . Still a couple of employees ushering people out of the store. I felt like I was intruding when entering the store and felt like I was a pest when I left. I am not sure if I will ever go back. They seem to think they have a captive customer base?

(Oregon location)I try and support small local business even though sometimes things are more expensive. I used a small little propane heater 2 times out fishing and realized it doesnt throw off quite enough heat.. I still have the original packaging. I asked for in-store credit to get a little bigger heater and they said they couldnt do it because of resale purposes. How was I supposed to know it wasnt going to put off the correct amount of heat without using it? Amazon or Walmart would have accommodated me. Might want to rethink your policies...

I have been here many times seeking materials and advice for everything from small repairs to DIY renovations. Everyone I have encountered in this store is friendly and helpful - full of tips, advice, and encouragement.They've talked me through vague plans, steered me towards affordable alternatives, and on occasion, when they didn't have what I needed, sent me to exactly where I could find it rather than try to pressure me into buying something from them that wasn't quite right.Thank you!! It's so nice having such a helpful store in the area.

I really have no idea what the negative posts are about. For one thing I didn't have people constantly walking up to me and interrupting me when I'm obviously looking around for myself but when I asked for help they were there. Every time I've gone to Dorn they knew exactly where to find what I was looking for and were able to give advice on whatever project I was working on. They were friendly and understanding when I rented some chairs but was a day late in returning them (my fault). As to the people complaining about doing the price check yourself? This isn't an impersonal box store with smiling subservient staff whose knowledge is restricted to what isle to go to and how to swipe a bar code. It's a small town store and they act more like people instead of your servants. I love Dorn!

Rude staff. When ever I have to go there for something I go with my husband. Today my husband couldn't go with. I walked around the store for a half hour trying to find an employee to help me. One finally came out of the break room, looked right at me, and I said 'excuse me, I need help'. He walked away from me. So, I walked as quickly as I could to catch up to him and told him again in a more firm voice that I needed help. He snarled and said fine while walking in the opposite direction I was going. I had to tell HIM where the chain isle is. As I got close to this older rude man he reeked like alcohol. The whole time he was helping me he mumbled under his nasty breath like I was an inconvenient customer. I'm surprised they are still in business. They need better staff and a better manager. I will never go back, especially alone.

Dorn True Value has a wide variety of materials that you might need to complete a project, but you do pay a little more for the convenience. The store is clean and the lighting is good.

I'm willing to pay slightly higher prices for the convenience of having a store in town. That being said, the place needs a good merchandiser and a manager that rides the lazy employees who give the other ones a bad name. If another store came into town with their act together Dorn would be out of business in a second.

This place has been in town since I was a kid and it has everything. If you can't find something ask Kevin and he'll either find it for you or tell you the best place to get it. I looked over the earlier reviews and I agree some of the staff from a few years ago sucked but the new staff is great! Support your local hardware store!

Can't understand how this place is still in business. The store is a disorganized mess. Stuff all over the floors. The rental guy is a tool. I rented a pressure washer, and after a 45 minute headache, they wouldn't even help me load it into my car (after they initially said they would). You try to support local business, but they give you every reason not to.

The store is packed with stuff. It is sometimes a little messy. You pay a little more but they have always had what I needed. And many times they are handing out free popcorn. Pay no attention to the earlier hateful posts. I spent 22 yrs in retail and dealt with whiney little #1@#'s like that all the time. Its a small town hardware store. I'm glad they are there.
