I know that anytime you are dealing with being 'locked out' and have someone jump in and help that they automatically seem terrific but this place really is. On vacation our car had an ignition problem that I did not have the tools to handle. I called around a bunch and started with some companies that had some amazing ratings but they were all bust :) too busy, too rude, too shady. These guys were very clear and polite when speaking on the phone, and let me know what to expect in the cost involved and they gave me a clear timeline of when they'd be arriving. When they showed up (on time) the technician was great. It went right to work fixing the problem what's polite courteous and professional. He even offered me a solution which was better than the original and would prevent me from having problems in the future. Sure it did cost a little bit of money but the fee was reasonable. Highly recommend these guys if you need help please call them not the others.

I had some spare keys to my car made here with no issue, for a reasonable price. Today I go and want copies of my apartment key, because they did good work for me in the past. You would think a car key would be more suspect than a building key. The 'lady' behind the counter gave me nothing but attitude and wasted my time. I have made dozens of copies of keys that say 'do not dupe' with never an issue. Even PO box keys. She is the type of person that enjoys saying no and lets money walk out the front door. Needless to say I will not be coming back here and if this is the way they run their business I doubt they'll be around much longer.

This is the second time I've come out during normal business hours and they haven't been open, with no notice of why or for how long. I really want their help specifically, because they're right near my house, I need my car keys originated, and I don't have the money to pay for the cost of coming out if I don't need to, but alas.

Went to get a new key fob for my Suburban. The employee didn't seem to know how to do it and when finally quoting the price, I might have gasped. I went somewhere else and paid much less. Probably a great place, but I'll probably go somewhere else for future key fob needs.

I had them complete a re-keying job on a house. The young man who completed the job was very pleasant and professional. He listened to what I needed done and completed the job quickly and with a smile on his face. I will continue to use their services in the future.

Wanted to use local business Called to get quote on replacement Car key with transponder Was told no guarantee it would work $ 65 if it worked 35 if it did not work !!! Are you kidding me ? Called another key outfit they quoted $50 guaranteed to work 5 min and it was done

This place and its cohorts are unbelievably awesome. Just had them rebuild the ignition lock cylinder in my 99 Toyota Solara. i called around to multiple shops in town and they all told me the ignition needed to be replaced and the cost would be an arm and a leg. I then called desert locksmith and talked with Benny, the lady knows her stuff! As soon as i told her what was going on she told me what she believed the problem was and what she would do to fix it. She told me to come in and she would get it resolved for me. Not only did she resolve my cars ignition problems, she made it so that this issue will never come up again. ALL WHILE CHARGING ME LESS THAN HALF OF WHAT ALL THE OTHER SHOPS IN TOWN QUOTED ME. Look, they are the best locksmith in town hands down. Don't go anywhere else, go here.

Desert locksmith wanted $1.49 for a 1 1/4 key ring. I got one for .39 cents at Alpine Lock. Total ripoff. The also say there the oldest locksmith in Reno. Outright Lie.Dunseath Key has been in Reno since 1930.

Saved my car. I have an 80s Mercedes Benz that I was stuggling to get fixed because the dealer didn't want to deal with it. I was forwarded to them by a repair shop in town. I called and was told it wasn't something they normally deal with but they would be willing to check it out. Turned out to be a worn ignition and key. They got the parts and fixed it, even made sure it was the same key. Probably saved me thousands.

What can I not say went in this place about six weeks ago for a new key fob for my wife's Ridgeline $100.00 and had a new key cut right out the gate the key wouldn't work in the ignition had to go back inside they recut it still wouldn't work then one of their supposed technicians comes out with a rat tail file with his good old boy attitude and I quote ,I will make it work one way or another so this morning because this key fob is cracking out all around the key I go in there to see if they will replace it and I am told no receipt can't do nothing convienient how you just have Ridgelines rolling in their so much that you can't recall me even being there but you didnt have a problem checking out my wife when you were trying to get the key to work did ya my advice you guys got a lot of good reviews if you want to keep it that way you may want to start treating people a little better and you guys better hope and pray that my wife ain't got the receipt cause I am taking it personally know that

I have a tough shed in my backyard and was locked out of it. I called Desert Locksmith to come to my house to determine whether or not they could reproduce a key to unlock it or replace the lock on the shed itself? When the Technician Tina arrived she immediately tried picking the lock to unlock the shed but soon discovered it was already unlocked; she could not get the door open still. She went back to her van and got a small screw driver to remove the 3 screws that were holding the lock in place onto the door. She removed the screws and we both saw that the locking pin was broken and therefore unable to move back when trying to open the door handle; hence why the door could not open. That was the extent of her service she provided to me - removed 3 screws and charged me $75 for it! This company automatically charges what they call a 'trip charge' which was $55 in my case and then Tina the tech added a charge of $20 in addition to the $55 to remove 3 screws! I was shocked when I saw the bill for the service she provided. I will never use this company again and I recommend nobody else does either unless you want to be overcharged $75 for a tech from this company to remove 3 screws? They also do not tell you on the telephone when you call them that they automatically charge you what they call a 'trip charge'. This company is ridiculous in what they charge and should be reported to the Better Business Bureau for failing to state that they automatically charge you a 'Trip Charge' when you call them for service!

This was from my place of work, but they were incredible. The code to our front door key pad messed up, and our customers could not get in after hours at our UPS Store. I called Desert Locksmiths, and they made their way that day to take a look at our system. The previous UPS Store owner did not provide us with any paperwork on the old security codes, so Desert Locksmith was able to fix the problem, provide us paperwork on the system so we can re-program it here, AND they made it smaller so it did not stick out on the side of our door. The fix was scheduled for the next business day, but they informed me shortly afterwards that a cancellation opened so they could fix it that day. NOT EVEN AN HOUR LATER Dallas was here and got it up and running! Thank you Dallas, thank you Desert Locksmith, you saved our business a lot of hassle!

In looking for a reputable locksmith I wanted to 'feel safe' after rekeying all our home locks. So I looked on-line and found Desert Locksmiths and all the good comments/ratings. When I called to inquire about service, I was treated like an 'important person' to be taken care of immediately. This is a rare and very pleasant surprise unlike so many business who are too busy, etc. We were immediately scheduled for the appointment, even though we live in Minden (an hour away from them); I believe the lady who came out to do the job was Benny. She was kind, helpful and went beyond just rekeying by making our door easier to open. I would be happy to recommend them to anyone looking for any of the services provided.Thank you Desert Locksmiths!
