I have an 82 Volkswagen van and was down to one key for the gas tank. Since I lose EVERYTHING, this had me in a slight panic. I had keys cut at a few other places for it and none of them worked. I took my key here and they immediately recognized the problem, had the right kind of key and I was on my way!

I took a house key in to Clyde's to have copies made. A woman came out from the back room and complained that 'they left her all alone' in the shop. I gave her the key and asked for 5 copies. She brought back the copies, but one looked nothing like the master, as if it had been cut from a completely different key. She took it back and remade it, though I had to ask her to file down all the copies a little as the edges were extremely sharp and I was afraid they might not work well in our dead bolt. When I got them home, the copies were, in fact, hard to get into the lock and, after gently wiggling all the copies in and jiggling them as I turned them, in was able to get them to open the lock. However, when I put the master key into the lock it wouldn't go in (after working perfectly for more than a year). I went to Clyde's because I thought they'd do a better job, but next time I'll go to Ace Hardware or another locksmith. It's unfortunate because I like to support local businesses.

We recently had Clyde's out to re-key our office. I'm not sure who I spoke to when I scheduled the appointment, but he was very friendly, polite, and professional. The technician showed up about a half hour later than we scheduled, but that wasn't really an inconvenience because I try to schedule all of our vendors on one day. I also expected as much from a locksmith company. I realize they can't really plan their days when no one knows when they might need their services. Anyway, the re-keying went smoothly and he re-keyed four doors and made about 15 - 20 new keys for us on-site. I'm giving them three stars because when he arrived, he said it would be easier to re-key with an existing key so I quickly handed him my keys. I didn't realize he didn't return them before he left and I had no car keys to get home. When I realized he must've accidentally kept them, I tried calling and texting but didn't receive a reply. They don't have or monitor any kind of after hours number, so my wife had to drive from Albany to bring me our other set of car keys. We also had to find childcare on the fly for our 3-month old so she didn't have to sit in the car for 30 - 45 minutes both ways. (Thank goodness Grandma lives around the corner.) It was incredibly frustrating and inconvenient. I don't understand what kind of locksmith company doesn't have an after hours number.

Called and scheduled an appointment for the next day. When the tech came, he was very friendly, knowledgable, and fast. He quickly changed all 7 of my home locks and made several duplicates at a total cost of $115. I would highly recommend Clyde's.

$84.50 to drive 15 minutes. $15 to unlock one small desk drawer lock. He didn't have what was needed to make a replacement key for my lock with him, wanted to charge me $20 for a new lock and $20 to remove the drawer so he could drill a bigger hole for said new lock where the old lock hole was. I told him I can do that for cheaper so, no! My total bill was $99.50 to have one small lock with no key unlocked, that's it! Pretty spendy, don't you think?

Ye old locksmith. You don't need one until you do, then you are grateful they are still around. Clyde's Lock and Safe solved a simple problem that a much larger retail generalist failed to. If you need a key made, or any other locksmithing needs, stop by or give them a call.

Came out to get the keys out of my truck and broke my window track. They claim it isn't their fault and the guy says he has been doing it for 30 years, but he wasn't there when it happened a kid came out that has worked their less then 6 months and even accepted responsibility, but then they went back on their word. My advice is avoid this company.
