Went on on a drizzly Friday afternoon to get some wood for a shelf project in the garage. My husband wanted to support a local business. I paid $30 more than I would have at a national competitor, and the two by fours are so wet it's going to be a long time before I can build with them. Although the gentleman who loaded my lumber was efficient, he wasn't friendly. I'll brave the chain store next time I need lumber.

I do so many more DIY projects now! I hated walking around the big box stores looking for someone to help me. Not the case at Kilgore Blackman, the staff is so nice and helpful. They also have very competitive prices compared to the big box stores.

Kilgore Blackman Building Materials 5444 Commercial St SE, Salem, OR 97306 with my service dog in training and my daughter. While we were waiting for 10 minutes with out anyone to help us, three sales representatives walked past the last one stopped (In my head I thought great) however he said we don't allow dogs in this area. Then walked off. As he walked off so did I and left the store. Went to Sherwin-Williams for my painting supplies. Spent over $200.00. I wanted to let the store know that they lost a sale and returned later with the receipt. When I went in I waited at the counter. I waited for five minutes finally gave up, then one of the sales people see's me leave and comes out I asked how do they stay in business? His answer was you wait. I followed him back into the store and asked for a card of the owner or manager. Ended up talking with a assistant manger. He did not care that they lost a sale, and future sales from me and my family. He said it's worked for 60 years that way. He clearly did not give a rip.
